Catherine Allard

Bronze turtle patinated. At first, sculptor or rather "model-maker" after 5 years of studies in Nice Arts, and by some working years in foundry of art then in jewellery.
Catherine Allard explores the domain of the jewel-sculpture today. She models forms which find their origins in the human body. By juggling with the different subjects, first the earth and the plaster, then the iron, the wax, the bronze, and the money. En jonglant avec les différentes matières, d’abord la terre et le plâtre, puis le fer,la cire, le bronze, et l’argent.

Modelled, opening, dug, curved forms, distorted, jewellery tells his story just as his sculptures.

Silver-plated bronze braceletVision of artist, Catherine Allard tells:
« I saw the sculpture as a gesture which is the emanation of what there is to be in the body, when he starts to shout his flesh. »
« When intimate joining the universal then, the truth happens … »

« The role of the artist would be to bring to light this truth there, the one who touches the being in all layers of her material, that she is physical or psychical. »

« Find the first emotion, that born in suffering, in first trauma, because the living being is born of chaos. »

In its sculptures, the Fish and the Venus are its topics of predilection, and tell so, some history of womanhood.
